In perfumery, it takes 12,000 pounds of flowers from Asian jasmine shrubs to produce two pounds of the oil absolute. In July and August, blossoms from the first flowers are gathered, but the second flowering in October provides the most fragrant blooms. Jasmine must be picked before dawn or 20 percent of the fragrance will be lost. This single note from far off lands possesses a night blooming fragrance that is exotic and mysteriously familiar, offering romance and character. Jasmine’s tiny white delicate petals produce an oil which is an ingredient in almost every fine perfume. Ours is the next best thing to the real treasure.
